Getting Little Geeky once again
I had a hard time figuring out a solution to a very unusual problem at hand.
I was just playing with Yahoo POP server using one of the email clients and I fetched inbox on local HDD. Now, I had a shocking revelation, I left the option of "leaving the messages on the server" UNCHECKED. What does it imply? Total chaos, because now the Inbox emails are not on the Yahoo server at all, they are not in trash too!! (Bang Bang Bang) Inbox is gone forever :(. I was taken aback in a moment because the emails were critical. I could not believe it for a moment and with a very little hope I started to dig the probable solutions. In my imagination, even a proficient hacker can not restore wiped emails because there is no room at all, you just have the mail server which says "No messages in the Inbox"!!!! and this made it enough challenging.
Even "Yahoo help" suggests the same, they don't have any mechanism to retrieve the wiped messages (by POP3 server), which is a blunt cut on my hopes of fixing it. Without help of Yahoo or any other external support, after around 8 HOURS of exhaustive GEEKING (Hahaha), I managed to restore it (Awsome!!!). Cracking that piece of shit was really really really awsome. I could share the solution here on the blog, but it is not a platform for sharing geeky stuff, its just about what happened exciting around me, and this challenge was truly exacerbated by the absolutely clinical performance of Yahoo POP servers, I could trace absolutely NOTHING using the Yahoo Mail Server, and I had to take the alternate route to fix it (and What is that? I have put a hint in this post already!!!), and to my surprise it worked really well. I just remembered those old days when I used to chip in closely and follow somebody going by the name Buckaroo Banzai. And then God blessed me!
